Ingredients

Time Needed

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes

Instructions

  • Thoroughly rinse the olives with water.
  • Make small slits in each olive with a sharp knife to help release their flavor.
  • Place the olives in the glass jar and season with salt.
  • Fill the jar halfway with water to completely cover the olives.
  • Cover the jar tightly with the lid and store it in a cool, dark place for 2 weeks, shaking it every few days to help the salt and water distribute.
  • After 2 weeks, strain the olives through cheesecloth to remove any solids and transfer the liquid to a clean glass jar.
  • Cover the jar tightly and keep it in a cool, dark place for another 2 weeks, shaking it every few days.
  • The oil should have risen to the top of the jar after 2 weeks and can be carefully poured off into a separate container.
  • Any remaining liquids and solids should be discarded.
  • Your homemade olive oil is now complete.
