Instructions

  • Rinse the Basmati rice thoroughly in water and soak for 30 minutes in 2 cups of water.
  • Cook the rice in a rice cooker or on the stove until it is done.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a pan and add the finely chopped onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are translucent.
  • Stir in the cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala for 1-2 minutes.
  • To taste, add tomato puree, water, and salt.
  • Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
